In the beginning there was no Teknopol...

… only the political idea of making it easier for scientists and entrepreneurs to start businesses. This was in 1982 and the land was a muddy field just a stone's throw from Lund University. Once realised, the idea became a success and Ideon Science Park was founded.

– Ideon grew fast and quite soon the established companies came knocking on our door hoping to join us, says Sven-Thore Holm, the first CEO of Ideon, a post he with held until 1994.

– We felt the need to connect young and unexperienced entrepreneurs with more skilled veterans in the industry, a concept that turned out to be exactly right. Then we started "Ideon Management", which in 1989 became the first embryo of Teknopol, Sven-Thore reveals.

In 2007 the Swedish government chose to transform the foundations into a new company group under Innovationsbron AB, which to this day owns parts of Teknopol AB together with Region Skåne and Almi Skåne.
